Dear Mr. Rowell,

I am writing to you out of concern for the well-being of the chimpanzees infected with HIV at your facility. I am requesting that you provide me with details regarding their housing, and physical and psychological well-being. I would like to know: their names, ages, infectious status, their likes and dislikes, what their cages are like, if they have access to the outdoors; if they are single, pair or group housed; the number of caregivers they have; what sort of environmental enrichment they receive; and if and when you plan to retire them.

These sentient, emotional beings infected with HIV need to be recognized. I am joining the efforts of the New England Anti-Vivisection Society and the Laboratory Primate Advocacy Group to ensure that information about the physical and emotional realities that these unfortunate animals endure is not kept a secret from the public who are inadvertently paying for these experiments.

Sincerely,
