COMPUTER PROGRAMS
BioLab Series – Fetal Pig
"This exciting learning software gives students the ability
to perform informative, in-depth dissections and introduces the
concepts of physiology alongside anatomy. Students expand their
knowledge with interactive experimentation, eye-opening illustrations
and enlightening discussions about how form relates to function."
The Digital Field Trip to the Wetlands
"This Digital Field Trip uses virtual reality technology
to allow students to visit a bog in Ontario without getting their
feet wet! It is a truly interactive CD-ROM incorporating animation,
narration, games, text, full color photographs and a comprehensive
workbook in one easy-to-use package. The Digital Field Trip to the
Wetlands makes learning biology an enjoyable experience; students
have fun and are able to learn independently through exploration
and discovery. The Digital Field Trip to the Wetlands teaches the
principles of wetlands ecology and encourages an awareness of the
importance of wetlands conservation."
Digital Frog 1 – Frog Dissection, Anatomy,
and Ecology
The predecessor to Digital Frog 2. See Digital
Frog 2 for a description of the program.
Digital
Frog 2 w/ Workbook and Teacher’s Disk
"The Digital Frog 2
is a dynamic and effective tool for learning about biology. Study
the function of each organ you dissect using video and detailed
animations. See frogs and toads in their natural environment, listen
to their mating calls and watch their fascinating life cycle unfold.
Watch blood flow through the heart, cellular division, muscle/skeleton
interaction and other vital processes."
Dry Lab Plus - Fetal Pig
"An expert dissection thoroughly investigates the
complex internal and external anatomy of the fetal pig. Difficult
dissections like the nervous system are here for you in full view
- up close and without the fumes! In addition, detailed diagrams,
slides, pictures (over 100), and specimens at 7 different stages
of gestation offer a wonderful enhancement to your wet-lab! Sound
and video will keep your students fully engaged while more than
400 questions will test their knowledge.
Full screen images; Complete interactive dissection; Testing; Fully
editable."
Neotek’s Human Anatomy Lab – 3D Virtual
Reality (college level)
"This renowned collection has been called the definitive reference
on human anatomy. One of the most advanced (College/Advanced High
School) NEOTEK compatible CD's Neotek carries, it includes hundreds
of separate dissections of real human anatomy with thousands of
anatomical structures including arteries, veins, muscles, nerves,
bones and radiographs. All real, not a single cartoon, drawing
or computer rendering. The Human Anatomy Lab has a lecture
mode, allowing you to guide your class, a tutorial mode, for students
who want to study on their own and get the pronunciations down,
and a quiz mode, allowing you to give real Lab Practical
type exams without the inconvenience and expense."
Neotek’s Cat Lab – 3D Virtual Reality
(college level)
"Now, you can have the credibility of using an actual specimen
(no cartoons or computer simulations here) without the hassles.
This CD, endorsed by the Humane Society, allows your students to
be competitive with those that do actual dissections. And, students
still doing dissections can get more out of the process."
"Every major system (Skeletal, Musculature,
Nervous, Digestive, Circulatory, Reproductive, Respiratory and more)
is presented in 80 brilliant dissections, each micro-surgically
prepared to show details beyond the capabilities of even the most
talented student. The Cat Dissection Laboratory has the same Lecture,
Tutorial and Quiz capabilities as the Human Anatomy Lab. Yes, you
too can give real Lab Practical type exams with incredible ease.
"
Neotek’s
Frog Lab – 3D Virtual Reality (college level)
"With the success of the CatLab, instructors teaching more
fundamental biology (Middle School and up) asked NEOTEK to do the
same with the Frog. So, they've produced the same comprehensive
treatment of the frog, and with the classic approach used in most
texts and lab manuals, so it drops right in to your curriculum.
All major systems are covered in appropriate detail including: Skeletal,
Musculature, Nervous, Digestive, Circulatory, Respiratory and Reproductive."
"Let's face it, most students will
never successfully see details like the central nervous system of
the frog without a lot more time, equipment and experience than
they have available. Now, with micro-surgically prepared dissections
they can see what the book is talking about with real specimens,
not just computer cartoons. Don't make a choice between being believable
or being high-tech, have it all!"
Science
Works - Cat Works
"CatWorks is a highly interactive computer simulation
allowing the user to digitally dissect the cat. Graphics are stunning
and information is accurate. Testing functions allow the evaluator
to monitor student progress and maintain an electronic record by
Tracking Student Performance and Progress. Movies of actual dissection
are included as are Glossary and Pronunciations of all key words
and phrases. A truly valuable learning tool in the study of mammals,
CatWorks may supplement or completely replace actual dissection."
Science Works - Dissection Works
(frog, perch, crayfish, pig, and earthworm)
"Developed by teachers for teachers, these programs
combine the detailed study of dissection with computer technology
to bring you an effective means of sharing the intricacies of anatomy.
Available in five commonly studied animals (Frog, Fetal Pig, Earthworm,
Crayfish, and Perch), each program contains detailed schematics
of the major body systems, information on organ function and structure,
and review questions. DissectionWorks is accurate enough to replace
wet dissections or can be used in pre- and post lab activities.
"
Science Works - Slide Works
"Operate a virtual microscope to view more than 45
slides. Adjust the focus, switch objective lenses, and sketch your
slides. This program is full of highly interactive education activities,
and is perfect for children of all ages. There are eight sections
in all featuring the interactivity you'd expect in quality educational
new media products. This is the only new media resource about microscopes
available today that meets National Science Education Standards
recently published by the American Association for the Advancement
of Science (AAAS).
