The Next Step for Arthur and Phoenix

Arthur and ThelmaAs Arthur begins his transition from human dependence to dependence on other chimpanzees, he is making friends with lots of different animal people. Thelma (an 8 month old puppy abandoned at the sanctuary) and Arthur took to each other immediately – lots of play chase, licks, tickles and laughing.

CCCC chimps see Arthur and Phoenix for first time The CCCC family of chimps (right) returned from the island to get a close look at the two new arrivals. They sat calmly and were interested in meeting Arthur and Phoenix.

DanaDana (left) was one of the most curious. She did not take her gentle and wise eyes off them. Arthur and Phoenix will become a part of the next group of individuals who are currently part of an introduction program. Plans are already underway to make a second island for them.

Some of the many people who helped NEAVS make it possible for Arthur and Phoenix to have a new and better life. Rachel Weiss, Dr. Hayley Murphy, Jessica Cassidy, Dr. Theo Capaldo, Halley Buckanoff, and Atty. Tammy Richardson. Rick Cleveland and Sharon O'Keefe; and Drew Weber, President of Diamond Action, Inc.
