Resources & ArchivesNews to Use: Resources Available
(Spring 2000)
- PSYETA's (Psychologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) new video, Beyond Violence, uses almost two decades of research to demonstrate that violence against animals increases people's 'threshold' for violence. In dismissing violence against animals as a 'lesser cruelty,' society tacitly increases our capacity to tolerate and perpetuate violence. Beyond Violence is available on loan from the NEAVS Resource Center by calling 617-523-6020 x27.
- Visit the NEAVS Web site (www.neavs.org) to read "Resensitizing Society," co-authored by Theodora Capaldo, EdD, NEAVS President and former PSYETA President, on the predictive nature of cruelty to animals as an indicator of violence to humans.
- Call NEAVS to receive your complimentary copy of Viewpoints: Psychology, NEAVS, and the Making of an Anti-Vivisectionist, the first in a new thought-provoking series of opinion pieces. Viewpoints #1 looks at abuse done to animals in the name of psychology research and tells how NEAVS' influence inspired one psychologist to begin her career as an ardent anti-vivisectionist.
