Title

(Fall 2001)NEAVS has long been a proud supporter of Western University of Health Sciences – College of Veterinary Medicine and its pioneering philosophy of the non-consumptive use of animals in veterinary education. NEAVS is delighted to announce that CVM is well on its way to becoming the country’s 28th veterinary school.

Located in Pomona, CA, the college has received its official "letter of reasonable assurance" toward its accreditation requirements from the American Veterinary Medical Association Council on Education this past spring. The four-year DVM program is scheduled to open in 2003.

Lara Rasmussen, DVM, Assistant Professor at the school, has been a frequent speaker at NEAVS-sponsored events, and has authored several articles on compassionate veterinary training for NEAVS.

For copies of Dr. Rasmussen’s essay, "The Choice to be Kind," visit www.neavs.org. Copies of NEAVS’ Viewpoints article, "NEAVS, Veterinary Medicine, and the Making of an Anti-Vivisectionist" are available for $4.50 (which includes shipping and handling) from NEAVS.
