(Fall 2001)NEAVS has long been a
proud supporter of Western University of Health Sciences –
College of Veterinary Medicine and its pioneering philosophy
of the non-consumptive use of animals in veterinary education.
NEAVS is delighted to announce that CVM is well on its way
to becoming the country’s 28th veterinary school.
Located in Pomona, CA, the college
has received its official "letter of reasonable assurance"
toward its accreditation requirements from the American Veterinary
Medical Association Council on Education this past spring.
The four-year DVM program is scheduled to open in 2003.
Lara Rasmussen, DVM, Assistant Professor
at the school, has been a frequent speaker at NEAVS-sponsored
events, and has authored several articles on compassionate
veterinary training for NEAVS.
