UPDATE: This deadline has passed, however there is a new opportunity to shut down SCBT. Learn more...

Despite violating the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), animal research facilities continue to operate business as usual. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), charged with enforcing the AWA, must take stronger action against violators. Santa Cruz Biotechnology is a registered research facility and licensed dealer with multiple serious violations that have resulted in animal suffering and death. When questioned by USDA inspectors, the facility has even denied having hundreds of goats in a separate facility.

Santa Cruz Biotechnology’s dealer license expires this Friday, July 26. Please consider taking action to urge the USDA not to renew their license.

Lack of serious action against violators of the AWA has allowed many in the animal research industry to not take laws and animal welfare seriously. The minimal fines that are infrequently assessed are only viewed as part of doing business. Companies that abuse and neglect animals should not be licensed.
