Position Overview
Students have been at the forefront of social change throughout history, from civil rights, to protecting the environment, to animal rights advocacy.  NEAVS is seeking a Campus Organizer to help students get organized, mobilized, and energized so they can create a more humane campus.

With NEAVS, you’ll start a career in organizing by working with students at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst to make sure they have the training, skills, and opportunity they need to run campaigns for the protection of animals.  This internship position reports to NEAVS’ Program Manager, based in Boston. 

As an Organizer, you will:

Organize students including building a base of activists through tactics including leafletting, presentations, and tabling;
Mobilize students through tactics including protests, days of action, petition deliveries, phone calls, town-halls, on-line and off-line marketing tactics;
Train students to run effective campaigns through workshops and coaching; and
Build relationships with other student groups, faculty, and administrators.

By the end of this internship, you will have become an expert advocate for animals in research, built substantial leadership skills, and implemented effective grassroots advocacy tactics. 

Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to animal protection as well as some experience in organizing and mobilizing action. We’re looking for results-oriented individuals with enthusiasm and excellent communication skills. The Organizer must be self-motivated, with an ability to set your own schedule, manage projects, and carry out tasks in a timely and efficient manner. The Organizer will be offered training and coaching from experienced organizers.

We are looking for an intern enrolled as a student at the University of Massachusetts, to work on the University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus.

Term and Remuneration
This position pays a stipend of $500/month, upon completion of each month and the submission of an action report and timesheet, and the organizer is expected to work approximately 8 hours/week.
