Staff Spotlight: Nancy Finn

Staff Spotlight: Nancy Finn

In August 2014, Nancy Finn had her first day at NEAVS. Since then, year-after-year, Nancy has been an integral part of the NEAVS team. Learn more about our fabulous Director of Marketing & Communications below:

1. Tell us a little about yourself. (Yes, anything!)

I’ve always felt a very strong pull toward helping others – especially those who cannot speak up for themselves. I think that’s why I was drawn to work for nonprofits, so I could somehow have an impact on individual lives. That’s important for me because there are many moments when we get so caught up in the bigger picture; we tend to lose sight of the one-on-one connections.  That’s especially true advocating for animals – it’s good to reconnect on a regular basis with “why” you’re doing this tough work.

2. Tell us about your passion for animals.  (e.g. When/how did it start? Favorite animals?/Do you have any companion animals?)

Growing up, my family always had cats. Ironically, we always rescued them…it just seemed the natural thing to do. As an adult, I’m happy to say I’ve continued the tradition! I’m a mom to four very active, distinctly different, and forever entertaining feline companions. Life would be quite dull in comparison if they weren’t around. Plus, what’s better than coming home to those faces every evening after work?! Thank goodness my best friend, Scott, is a cat lover too!

3. What are you most excited about in terms of your role as Director of Marketing & Communications?

Being able to personally connect with so many amazing individuals who are dedicated to animals and willing to speak loudly on their behalf.

For example, I really enjoy hearing from our supporters, and other animal advocates through social media. It’s an immediate gratification, plus it instantly warms my heart that people around the globe are gathering together to make a difference. I’m always heartened to see we’re a growing, and diverse group of people striving to help millions of animals!  So, I’m thankful I am helping to create change – because even small changes can start a wave.

4. Describe yourself in three words.

Kind. Quirky. Thoughtful.

5. Is there anything else we should know about you? Fun facts?

My dream would be to own a farm with rescued animals running all over the place being free, happy, and safe!
